How does it work?

Solar panels contain thousands of solar cells. Their job is to collect light photons and convert the energy they contain into direct current or DC electricity.
This photo-generated DC electricity can be used directly, to charge a battery, or passed through a machine called an inverter, which converts it into alternating current or AC electricity, the type used to power household equipment.
