In the past you may have considered investing in solar energy but decided against it because you thought it was was too expensive or because of stories of ridiculous solar taxes here in Spain. Now, in 2019 more than any year previously solar energy really is a great investment.

You are probably wondering what is the difference between the conventional electricity you currently have and Solar Energy. Well, in this article we are going to go through the pros and cons of both rather than just hearing about the benefits of solar.

Let us first consider conventional energy or the more common name of carbon-based fossil fuel.

The main problem with fossil fuels is they are a non-renewable source of energy. Obviously, this is a big issue considering coal, gas and petroleum will run out. Some experts are saying, “We will run out of non-renewable sources of energy like oil by 2050 and coal by 2080”. Now you may think well that’s still a long way away. “Why should I invest in solar energy if it won’t affect me?”. Here’s the thing, Solar electricity is an abundant source of energy, meaning there is an almost infinite amount of it. Year after year conventional energy is becoming more and more expensive, yet solar is becoming cheaper and cheaper. Whilst solar requires an investment upfront, over a few short years it ‘pays for itself’ (provided the correct system is installed professionally). Trust us when we say ‘fossil fuels won’t be getting any cheaper’, considering supplies will run out.

Fossil fuels require a mining and extraction process which is very time-consuming, expensive and potentially dangerous for those who work in the industry. Fossil fuels are also expensive to extract and are costly to buy. As we all know, prices can also fluctuate dramatically.

Now you may not know that solar panels take a lot of energy to produce. This is contradictory to belief, considering every solar company talks about solar being a form of Zero Emissions energy. Michael Dale, a climate and energy researcher at Stanford University, wrote a paper addressing this issue directly, he said “I think that this paper shows that actually the industry is making positive strides and it's even in spite of its fantastically fast growth rates, it's still producing, or it's just about to start producing, a net energy benefit to society”. Due to this, the industry will have completely “paid back” the energy it took to produce the world’s panels by no later than 2020.

One of the biggest talked about factors is the environmental impact of the Fossil fuel industry, more specifically CO2 emissions. Solar panels previously would have created just as much if not more CO2 emissions than Fossil fuels but as the demand for solar increases, the production streamlines. This enables manufactures to produce more panels per CO2 amount emitted. In turn, reducing its carbon-footprint.

Year after year Solar products are becoming cheaper and more tech savvy. Increasing the longevity, enabling you to reap the rewards of going solar for years to come. Solar definitely is a fantastic investment here in Spain. Panels and the installation costs have decreased quite drastically. That’s why we get you the best quote for your needs. Solar electricity isn’t a ‘one-size fits all’ approach, every home is different.

Solar energy is not available 24 hours a day and no one can predict its availability exactly. In other words, there is an irregular supply of energy. Sunlight is readily available during the day however, in tandem with a battery, it can be used to power your home when it’s dark outside.

Solar needs a lot of abundant space to install enough panels to produce the amount of energy necessary to power a house or a commercial space. Solar can be installed on the roof of your home, it can be incorporated into a carport or pergola (or any garden space that doesn’t have an obstructed view of the sun.

A common misconception with solar energy is that it doesn’t work when its cloudy. This is simply not true. Diffused radiation means that a solar collector will still generate a lot of energy on cloudy days. Rain or shine, you can power your home.

If there’s one thing you can rely on, it’s the sun. That fire ball of burning gas, gives an abundant supply of energy. While fossil-fuels have a vague end-date, the sun will keep going for another 5 Billion years. Trust us when we say, you won’t run out.
